Internet of Things adoption has received a boost due to the advent of cloud services. Streaming data from IoT devices can be more easily and cost-effectively processed and acted on at a lower cost on the cloud as compared to a dedicated infrastructure.
Venform’s IoT project approach is one that starts with the core business justification. From there, we apply our knowledge of the right set of services at the right price point of total cost of ownership.
Internet of Things (IoT) is a new industry buzzword that refers to the addition of internet communication capability to common devices found in homes, offices, industrial settings and more. By securely connecting a company’s “smart” assets to a digital infrastructure, businesses procure new ways of increasing revenue and meeting customer needs.
The Venform IoT strategy consulting team works with customers to define what constitutes success for them and, if it is directly able to be influenced by technology, match that business goal to a cloud-based solution. For instance, a customer may state their goal as “improve asset utilization by 20 percent in the next fiscal year to reduce new capital allocation by 10 percent.”
We are able to translate customers’ business goals into an IoT/cloud application project by not only defining their strategy but also fulling investing in their success by directly signing up for incentives we receive only if they achieve success. If we weren’t completely competent in our ability to help our customers meet their business goals, we wouldn’t take this risk.
In order for the IoT devices to be internet-enabled, a fully-embedded or side-by-side communication module usually is required. At Venform, we often collaborate with our customers and partner companies that provide embedded devices by playing the role of the software developer. This allows us to take the embedded device data, integrate it with secure, cloud-based services and ultimately deliver on an application that meets the customer’s business goal.
IoT Cloud Infrastructure
IoT devices can number from only a few to tens of thousands. For example, a home automation solution for a small home may cover three to ten connected devices, while an industrial automation solution may involve hundreds of manufacturing assets across multiple plants, each having its own embedded IoT device. In a business application, the data streaming from these devices need to be securely captured, processed and acted upon, and the infrastructure necessary for this computing is provided by cloud PaaS providers such as Amazon, Azure and Google. As systems integrators, Venform will work with our customer’s team and the cloud infrastructure provider to build the end-to-end application to serve the customer’s overall business goals.
IoT applications sit on top of IoT infrastructure to solve companies’ real-world business requirements. This infrastructure provides the lower-level security and communication capabilities, while the IoT application sits on top of the IoT cloud infrastructure to provide the end user application. The Venform Cloud Framework application suite is built to easily address the needs of IoT application use cases, and for all our IoT projects we offer this as a starting point at no additional charge to our customers.
Our business model is different than traditional consulting companies keen on prolonging a project for increased revenue. We believe in the fast implementation of our projects, and Cloud Solution Framework along with other value-added benefits set us apart from our competitors.
We are in the business of taking good care of our customers. And, in order to do that, we offer full support to our customers on the software we deliver for them. We understand that our customers depend on our solutions for them to successfully run their day to day business. This is what we call “amazing support”.
